Weekend Guide to Naples, Florida

Naples is a Gulf Coast city, about 2.5 hours directly south of Tampa and about 2 hours north west of Miami. The city is home to a cool relaxed vibe that comes from its high population of retirees. Don’t be fooled though, Naples is a place for everyone.

Naples, Florida weekend guide

The Naples Botanical Garden

is a 501(c)3 non-profit and absolutely gorgeous. The Garden  is split up into different areas including the Asian Garden, Brazilian Garden, Caribbean Garden, and Children’s Garden.

IMG_6618One of the things I loved about the botanical gardens was that in the off-season during certain hours for $4.95 your dog can come along as well. Unfortunately the day we were in Naples it was 97 degrees all day long. We didn’t think Gatsby would be a fan of the heat so we left him at home.

Go to an animal show at The Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens

The Naples Zoo features exhibits of different animals but also animal shows as well. Expect to see many species of big cats, giraffes, snakes, alligators, bears and lots more. For the size of the city of Naples, the Naples Zoo is an impressive place to visit.

Watch the sun go down on Naples Pier

The sun sets almost directly over Naples Pier at the end of the day so it is literally a picture perfect place. What’s best about this pier is that it’s extremely long making it perfect for fishing and spotting wild dolphins in the water. Also an attractive feature is the restrooms and snack shack, because who doesn’t appreciate snacks and good plumbing?

Book a fishing trip or tour

Naples has tons of options for every type of fisher. each tour offers something different. some are larger and basically just give you a boat to fish on if you’re a seasoned fisher and know what you’re doing, others  provide guidance and equipment for those who are trying fishing out for the first time. whatever you like you can surely to get your fishing fix in Naples.

Hit up 3rd Street South and 5th Avenue for shopping

Both 3rd Street South and 5th Avenue have nice mixture of  name brand stores and local boutique shops. 5th avenue is the main street and the busier of the two, but 3rd Street boasts more restaurants. You could easily spend an afternoon roaming down both streets.

Stop for lunch at 360 Market

The 360 Market is part restaurant part market. Everything from salads, pastries, snacks and desserts are made fresh and from scratch, every single day. It doesn’t stop there 360 Market does catering AND gourmet dinner delivery service as well!

IMG_2034_2Naples is a city with a cool relaxed feel to it. If shopping, dinning and beach chilling are high on your list, but you’re not up for navigating the chaos of Miami or Tampa, Naples is the place for you.
