The older I get the more I love fall.
I used to be all about the summer time.
I still love summer, but now I look at fall with major heart eyes.
I don’t know what it is and frankly I don’t care. All I know is that after a busy summer, fall is like a calming breath of fresh air and I am super excited for all that is to come.
This fall I’m excited to….
Consume all the pumpkin and squash flavored things I can
Everyone’s all about the pumpkin spice flavored things, but I’m all the actual pumpkin itself! Pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup, pumpkin cookies, and don’t forget about pumpkins cousin – squash! He’s pretty tasty and versatile too!
Try my hand at a few new chili recipes
My mom makes some bomb.com traditional chili, but I’m dying to give some new recipes a whirl. I’m thinking something creamy, vegetarian, and packed with lots of beans. I’ve had my eye on this recipe for a while now.
Wear all the sweaters, layers, and blanket scarves
Fall fashion is my favorite fashion. Boots, sweaters, scarves, chunky knits, tall socks – literally give me all the fall clothes. Any season where being fashionable is also super comfy is going to be a hit with me.
Eat literally all the candy corn
I am not a huge candy person at all, but I freaking love candy corn! I bought my first bag the other day and a handful is always my dessert/sweet treat during the fall season.
Step outside into cool crisp mornings
After the humidity of the summer, fall mornings in the midwest are pure heaven. I love letting my dogs out first thing in the morning and being welcomed with the crisp air of fall right on my face. A sunny, crisp, fall day is hard to beat in my book.
Watch lots and lots of (Green Bay Packer) football
I truly do love football season. My husband is a huge Oklahoma Sooners fan so on Saturdays all our attention is on them, but come Sunday it all shifts to the Packers. Plus tailgating food is my favorite!
Go on a fall foliage drive
There’s a little slice of heaven here in Wisconsin called Door County that is known for having some of the most amazing fall colors around. I have been dying to go on a fall foliage drive and I think this year I’m finally going to make it happen. If you’re a Wisconsinite, Travel Wisconsin has an amazing site that tracks all the colors in the entire state by county!
Buy new candles and have them lit at all hours of the day
Even the candles I light in the summer are fall scented candles. It’s just the only flavor of candles I’m interested in buying. I typically just light them at night in the summer, but when fall hits I have one lit practically the entire day. It is the most divine thing in my opinion.
Decorate my front porch for fall
I’ve always just put a few random pumpkins out on my porch and called it good, but this year I want to take it to the next level. I’m thinking pumpkins, mums, and some bales of straw. This post has me super inspired.
Watch Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown on repeat
Literally one of my all time favorite quotes from Hocus Pocus. And who doesn’t love when Disney Channel does their Halloweentown marathon and plays ALL 4 movies?! Um, no-one, that’s who.
