As I told ya’ll in my last post I’m currently back in Wisconsin until the end of April. This past weekend Central Wisconsin got anywhere from 20-30 inches of snow over the course of 72 hours.
Yeahhhhhh, spring has a way of taking it’s time here in the midwest, and it is definitely taking it’s time this year. So while I was out shoveling feet upon feet of snow, I was dreaming of warmer days and fun spring fashion. I already gave you the spring dresses I’m coveting and the spring color I’m crushing on, but today is all about shoes.
Fingers crossed I can finally put away my winter boots and break out some of these fun shoe trends for spring!
5 Shoe Trends to Rock This Spring
The ever versatile mule. Ahh, how I love thee. Mules can come in chunky block heel (helllloooo 90’s!) or they can come in a flat loafer form. They look good with literally anything and everything and can be dressed up or dressed down super easily. If there’s one shoe trend you go for this spring it should be the mule!
The Rain Boot
I love love love rain boots. There is just something fun and youthful about them. Thanks to all of those April showers, spring is the best time to throw those rain boots on, and have fun styling them. I always love the tall classic Hunter rain boot, but lately I’ve been eyeing the shorter bootie type rain boots (Joanna Gaines is often caught wearing these during Fixer Upper episodes!).
The Chic Sneaker
Fun fact: the Adidas Superstar sneaker was my one pair of “school shoes” for both 5th and 6th grade. I had 3 pairs in 3 years and they were thee coolest things. The fact that they’re back in style now makes my heart (and my 10 year old self) super happy!
The possibilities with a chic sneaker are never ending. It’s the perfect shoe for some casual yoga pants and a oversized tee errand running on the weekend, but they can also be dressed up with a cute maxi or sundress.
The oldest, most primitive versions of espadrilles date back as far as 4,000(!!) years ago. Espadrilles actually originated in Spain and were the typical footwear of peasants. Fast forward to the 21st century and they’re the trendiest shoe of 2018. Espadrilles can be heels, flats, wedges, and everything in between. You’ll notice what they all have in common is their sole, which is made of esparto rope (or esparto rope lookalike material) which is the defining characteristic of the shoe.
These cuties have a country club kind of a feel to them, and would pair perfectly with a sundress, or some skinnies and a cute flowy top.
Bootie, bootie, bootie, bootie, rockin’ everywhere, rockin’ everywhere…
Sorry, I just had to!
I’m a huge fan of booties in the fall, but I love bringing them out again in the spring when the weather is warming up, but not quite ready for sandals. Booties are easily dressed up or down. Literally there’s nothing you could wear that would look bad with a cute pair of booties.
