The day is here ya’ll! The Royal Wedding!
I’m not obsessed with the Royals by any means, but I do appreciate and respect what they do and what they stand for. More so than that though, I loveeeee history. And this my friends, is history in the making.
Also can I just say, I have been a huge Suits fan ever since it started, so I feel like I knew and “discovered” Meghan waaaaay back in the day before she was even truly famous.
Lame, I know but those are my feelings, so don’t judge me!
Lets get to the fashion! Starting with…..
There was, of course, so much speculation about who would design Meghan’s dress, and what it would look like. She ended up walking the isle in a Givenchy gown designed by the label’s British Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller. It was classic and elegant and very “her”. She’s always had a pretty simple but chic style, and I think this is a perfect representation of that.
UMMM, OK!!!!! Meghan’s Sella McCartney reception dress is STUNNING. It looks so fun and even slightly sexy I’d say. Of the two dresses, this is definitely my fave.
Best looks of the Day
Sophie, Countess of Wussex (Harry’s aunt)
Pastels made a big splash at the Royal Wedding. I love this periwinkle blue, and I love that this is on trend yet still age-apropriate. I also think the fascinator is perfect.
Princess Eugenie (Harry’s cousin)
Again with the periwinkle blue. I love the how classic this look is, but what I really love is that she spiced it up a bit with those shoes. Those are epic! In my opinion her fascinator is a little blahh. I think because this look is so basic and classic a more elaborate fascinator would have been better suited here.
Serena Williams in Versace
This blush color looks killer on Serena’s skin tone and this dress is tailored to perfection. I’m not a fan of her hair or her fascinator to be honest. I don’t know, I don’t hate it, I just think she could have done better on both accounts. Regardless, overall she looks great.
Oprah in Stella McCartney
Oh hey, Oprah! You looking’ goooood! Again the blush is proving to look amazing on her skin tone just as it did Serena. My only critique of this is that I wish the dress wasn’t double tiered. I think it’s weird to only have two tiers. Usually when tiers are involved in a dress there is multiple – like at least 4. It’s a little strange to me that this dress has two tiers. Either add more (this would have looked beautiful with 4 tiers, in my opinion), or have none.
Otherwise I love to color, the fit, the lace details, and the feathers on her fascinator. I also love that she’s rocking the trendy mule! Remember when I told ya’ll those would be hot this spring!?
My two best dressed of the day
Lady Kitty Spencer (Harry’s Cousin)
This is going to be one of those iconic looks from this wedding that is looked back on in 20 years. Mark my words! It’s so classic, yet so on trend with the florals on the front. Her skin looks absolutely amazing! The orange shoe is literally giving me life! And I love that her fascinator is relatively basic considering the pop of the print and the shoe. Head to toe, she nailed it!
Amal & George Clooney
If I had to pick one best dressed look of the entire event it would hands down be Amal Clooney (George isn’t half bad himself). Head to toe, from make up to shoe, from earrings to fascinator – I am obsessed with everything. Literally just obsessed. All hail, Amal!!!
I honestly was really disappointed in Victoria Beckham’s look. She’s a fabulous designer herself, so I think I have very high standards for her. Either way her look was just so boring to me. Everything about it was a snooze fest. So not like her!
I was also semi-disappointed with Pippa Middleton’s look. She knocked the world’s socks off at William and Kate’s wedding in 2011 and I was looking forward to her look for this wedding. It wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t very awesome either. The floral print is very on trend and I actually like the soft green color, but the way the dress fans out from her waist with that strange fabric is just weird to me. Not horrible, but not great.
Ya’ll I love the Queen. She’s like the world’s grandma and I think she usually looks so cute; but I was not digging the highlighter lime green outfit or the deep purple feathers in her fascinator. I loved the soft yellow she wore at William and Kate’s wedding, but this look was just not it for me.
I thought Kate Middleton looked like Kate always does: perfectly put together and never too bold.
I thought Camilla Parker Bowles’ hat was a bit ridiculous, but I also kind of loved it.
I thought the flower girls and the page boys looked absolutely adorable and I thought they did an amazing job with Meghan’s train! Such well behaved little kids!
I loved seeing all of the Suits family in attendance! As I said before, I’m a huge fan of the show, so it was cool to see them all there supporting their former co-star.
