What I Bought During Sephora’s Beauty Insider Sale

I never gave a two shits about skin care or make-up or basically anything girly until I turned 25.

I bought all my skin care and make-up at Target and usually choose it based on what was on sale and what had the prettiest packaging. I didn’t put much thought into my skin type or even my skin shade.

By the way, this is in no way a burn on drug store cosmetics and skin care! There are some amazing drugstore products out there. I just didn’t even care enough to research good drugstore products so I ended up using any ‘ole thing on the shelf and crossing my fingers for results. Sephora Spring SaleNow-a-days I put a lot more time in to deciding what products I want to use. I go online and read reviews from every site I can find. After I’ve bought into a trying a product I put in on my “list”. This is basically a running list of all the products I’d like to try. I typically like to try new products one at a time because:

A) a lot of this stuff is expensive and buying it all at once is exxxxxxpensive.

B) trying things one a time means I can evaluate each of them separately. If I change it all up at once, it’s hard to tell what is helping the most and what is just mehhh.

The Sephora Spring sale is the first time I’ve really bought a number of new products all at once. That being said, everything I bought is stuff I’ve had on my list to try for a loooooong time (with the exception of one product).

PS – Everything I bought and mention in this post is cruelty-free! YAY animals!

Skin Care

Neogen Bio Peel+ Gauze Peeling in Green Tea

I’ll be honest, I had never even heard of this stuff when I walked into Sephora. But I tracked down a Sephora employee, told her what I was needing and she recommended this. I’m really in need of something that can exfoliate the crap out of my skin, so I’m hoping this stuff does the trick.

These green-tea infused single-use exfoliating pads employ natural ingredients to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and impurities.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial

This stuff has pretty much taken the beauty world by storm. I have seen it recommended everywhere. It won an Allure Best of Beauty Award in 2017, and I had two (non-beauty blogger) Instagram friends post about this product (unsponsored) and rave about it. It’s pricey, but I decided the Sephora sale was a good time to finally give it a go.

This stuff is known for amazing results, while still being super gentle. I don’t have super sensitive skin, but I read a lot of reviews from people saying they have sensitive skin and it did wonders for them.

It’s an AHA/BHA mask, that gently but efficiently resurfaces the skin as it exfoliates, getting rid of built-up dead skin cells by breaking down the substance that holds them to the surface. This isn’t an everyday product. It’s only to be used once or twice a week. I’m excited to give this a try!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder in Champagne Pop

I’ve heard really good things about Becca Cosmetics in general, but especially their best selling highlighter in the color Champagne Pop. I just started contouring about 6 months ago (late to the party, I know), and I started with a basic drug store contouring kit. I figured if I liked the cheap version I could eventually upgrade to something a little better. The thing about a highlighter is that if you get a good one, you really don’t need to use a lot. Meaning you can invest in a high quality one and it’ll last you foreverrrrrrr.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

“Setting” your make-up is something I never would have heard of a year ago. Just as with the contouring, I started out with a cheap drugstore setting powder to just “try out the fad” and see if it was something I would actually do in my make-up routine often. Since I’ve started “setting” I don’t know how I ever went without it.

I knew I was ready to upgrade and this is the product everyone raves about. It has a cult following. If you asked 10 people what their go-to setting powder is, I bet 7 of 10 will say this stuff. It can also be used for “baking” – another thing I am just learning about!

The LM Translucent Loose Setting Powder locks in makeup for long-lasting wear, without adding weight or texture. It creates a matte finish with a touch of sheer coverage, while it absorbs oil and reduces shine all day. It will not settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey.
